I've been to two of these ateliers now and I can recommend them. For me personally they have been a really good way of meeting French people - not necessarily to make life-long friends, but just to spend a couple of hours in their company and to understand a bit more about how they tick. It's good if you need to practice your French too.
The atelier is a demonstration, you watch as Virginie prepares the food, but you can join in whenever you want and do some chopping/stirring etc. You then get to taste whatever has been cooked - either on the spot or you can take a bit home. You don't get a three-course meal (!) but just tasting.
